There's nothing more heartbreaking than excitedly trying on the new bikini you just bought, but find the top is a little too big. Don’t give up on this swimsuit yet, just try the following methods.

Find the right fitting

Check your reflection in a full-length mirror when trying on a bikini. Reach behind the bikini and use one hand to tighten the left and right straps. This will bring your bikini closer to your breast area. Move your hands up and down the straps. This touches different areas of the top of the bikini. Once you find a fit Stop when the front of your swimsuit is in position. Use your other hand to pin the two straps together. Walk around as you would in a swimsuit, raising your arms above your head and then bending down to touch your toes. Watch these movements in the mirror if you notice any wrinkles or gaps, or if something seems too restrictive, adjust the position of the pins until you feel the fit is comfortable.

Sewing the adjustment

Thread your sewing machine with the same color thread as your suit, if your bathing suit is multi-color, choose the thread that matches the main color of the suit. Replace the safety pin with a straight pin. Place the swimsuit under the presser foot of your sewing machine and stretch it slightly. Lower the presser foot over the straps and remove the straight pin. Sew the edges of the two straps together in a zigzag pattern, overlapping by about two inches. Continue to stretch the strap slightly as you sew.

Remember to trim the threads when you're done sewing and enjoy wearing your custom swimsuit.
